Council tax single person discount calculator
Living alone, or the only adult counted? You can usually get 25% off your council tax.
Who counts as an adult?
Everyone aged 18 or over counts, except people who are "disregarded". That includes full-time students, apprentices, student nurses, people who are severely mentally impaired and some carers. If everyone else in your home is disregarded, you can still get the 25% discount.
Apply through your own council's website. You can find your council on GOV.UK.

Can I pay council tax over 12 months instead of 10?
Yes. Most councils in England let you ask to spread payments over 12 monthly instalments instead of the usual 10.
