Pro rata salary calculator

A job advert says “£30,000 pro rata”? Here's what you'll actually earn on your hours.

The formula

Pro rata salary = FTE salary × (your hours ÷ full-time hours) × (weeks worked ÷ 52).

For example, £30,000 at 22.5 of 37.5 hours is £30,000 × 0.6 = £18,000 a year. The hourly rate is the same as a full-timer's: £30,000 ÷ (37.5 × 52) = £15.38.
