Still to be announced
- National Insurance thresholds: the government has said the main thresholds (£12,570 and £50,270) stay the same, but they're set each year in regulations, usually in the new year. The 8% and 2% rates have no announced change.
- Other student loan thresholds (Plans 1, 4 and 5, and postgraduate loans) are usually announced in the new year.
- Scottish income tax bands are set in the Scottish Budget, usually in December to February.
- Any Autumn Budget 2026 changes. We'll update this page if the Budget changes anything.

Why frozen thresholds matter
When thresholds don't rise with pay, more of each pay rise is taxed, and more people move into the 40% band. This is sometimes called fiscal drag. The calculator above shows how much of your rise you actually keep.

Will the tax-free Personal Allowance change in April 2027?
No. It stays £12,570, frozen until 5 April 2031, and the higher rate threshold stays £50,270.
Will my take-home pay go up in April 2027?
Only if your pay rises. Thresholds are frozen, so the same salary gives roughly the same take-home pay, and more of any rise is taxed.
