ISA allowance tracker 2026/27
You can put up to £20,000 into ISAs between 6 April 2026 and 5 April 2027. Add up what you've paid in so far to see what's left.
The 2026/27 ISA rules
| Account | Limit 2026/27 |
|---|---|
| All your ISAs combined | £20,000 |
| Lifetime ISA (age 18–39 to open, pay in until 50) | £4,000 + 25% bonus (up to £1,000) |
| Junior ISA (per child, doesn't use your allowance) | £9,000 |
- The allowance doesn't roll over. Whatever's unused on 5 April 2027 is gone.
- You can pay into more than one ISA of the same type in a tax year.
- Withdrawals don't give you allowance back, unless your cash ISA is a "flexible" ISA and you put the money back in the same tax year.
- Transfers of money from previous years don't count against this year's £20,000. Always use the provider's transfer form, and don't withdraw the money yourself.
- Lifetime ISA: the 25% bonus is for a first home (costing up to £450,000) or for when you're 60+. Any other withdrawal costs a 25% charge, which means you get back less than you paid in.
Changing from 6 April 2027: cash ISA limit of £12,000
From the 2027/28 tax year, if you're under 65 you can only put £12,000 a year into cash ISAs. The overall limit stays £20,000, so the rest can go into stocks and shares ISAs. If you're 65 or over, you can still put the full £20,000 into cash. Transfers from stocks and shares ISAs into cash ISAs will also be blocked for under-65s. If you save more than £12,000 a year in cash, this tax year (to 5 April 2027) is the last chance to put up to £20,000 into a cash ISA.
